Explore your options and decide for yourself. But be sure to take a close look at the HSA medical plans. Those plans, especially, save you and XPO money.

The Basic HSA, HSA Plus, Basic PPO and Classic PPO use the same networks of doctors and hospitals. They also cover the same services.

Click on each plan name to view features.

The Basic HSA is a high deductible plan — and it’s one of two plans that can be paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA). In 2024, you can put up to $4,150 as an individual or $8,300 as a family of your money in the HSA and deduct it from your taxes when you do your tax return. During the year, you can use HSA money to pay for eligible health care expenses or you can save it for later. (You can even use that money for eligible health care expenses when you retire.)

After you meet the deductible, which is higher than the other plans, the plan kicks in to share the cost (and pays a lower portion than the Classic PPO, Basic PPO or HSA Plus). Once you meet your out-of-pocket maximum, the plan pays 100% of eligible expenses for the remainder of the year.

You don’t get any free money from XPO with the Basic HSA, but the premiums are the lowest of all the medical options. This means more money in your paycheck. You can lower your taxable income by putting money in an HSA, if you choose to set up an account.

HSA Plus is a high deductible plan — and it comes with a Health Savings Account (HSA). XPO puts up to $1,000 into this account, depending on your coverage level. You can use that money to pay for eligible health care expenses before you dip into your own pocket, or you can save it for later. In 2024, you can put up to $3,650 as an individual or $7,300 as a family of your own tax-free money into your HSA. (You can even use that money for eligible health care expenses when you retire.)

While the deductible is higher than the Classic PPO, the free money XPO puts in your HSA can make this deductible more manageable.

For 2024, XPO gives you money in the HSA Plus plan twice a year in January and July. You’ll get a total of $500 for Individual coverage and $1,000 for Employee + One or More coverage.

The Basic PPO is a traditional preferred provider organization medical plan. You pay only set copays for office visits. For other services, you meet a deductible first, then the plan pays a portion of the cost until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum. At that point, the plan covers 100% of remaining eligible expenses.

The deductible is lower than for the HSA options and higher than the Classic PPO, and there’s no deductible for prescription drugs (those have a copay from the start). But with the Basic PPO, you pay more from each paycheck.

The Basic PPO’s higher paycheck contributions are only worth the cost if you can’t afford to meet the HSA deductible — minus any money you get from XPO.

The Classic PPO is a traditional preferred provider organization medical plan. You pay only set copays for office visits. For other services, you meet a deductible first, then the plan pays a portion of the cost until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum.
