The Basic PPO is a traditional preferred provider organization medical plan. You pay only set copays for office visits. For other services, you meet a deductible first, then the plan pays a portion of the cost until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum. At that point, the plan covers 100% of remaining eligible expenses.
The deductible is lower than for the HSA options and higher than the Classic PPO, and there’s no deductible for prescription drugs (those have a copay from the start). But with the Basic PPO, you pay more from each paycheck.
The Basic PPO’s higher paycheck contributions are only worth the cost if you can’t afford to meet the HSA deductible — minus any money you get from XPO.
